Select a bumper

  • Chrome Bumper (Road Tax Exempt)

When we receive a donor MGB it almost always shows age on the bright works. The chrome bumpers and grilles are almost always removed and replaced. This ensures that your MGB looks like new again.

  • Sebring Bumpers (Road Tax Exempt)

Using a tax exempt donor car, that is to say a pre-1973 model, and then adding the Sebring front and rear body panels gives the MG a more modern bumperless look. The new fibreglass panels are then sculpted and filled to create a seamless appearance on the body panels.

  • Rubber Bumper

In 1974, in order to meet US impact regulations, the chrome bumper over-riders where replaced with a new, steel-reinforced black rubber bumper at the front which incorporated the grille area as well, giving a major restyling to the B’s nose. A matching rear bumper completed the change. These cars were nicknamed “Sabrinas” after the well-endowed actress of the time, but the modification added extra safety to the vehicle.

  • Sebring Bumpers

The Sebring front and rear panel modification gives the MG a more modern bumperless look. The new fibreglass panels are then filled and sculpted  to create a seamless appearance.

  • Chrome Bumper (conversion)

We take a rubber bumper donor car and convert it to the original chrome bumper design.

Select a colour

  • Metallic

The metallic colours which were originally used mainly on the MGB LE models may be selected, but naturally we can finish your car in any colour you wish. If you have a particular colour planned, please select ‘other’ and give us details in the ‘NOTES’ section at the end.

  • Standard

The standard original factory colours for the MGB may be selected however we can do any colour you wish. If so, please select ‘other’ and make a note of it at the end.

  • Pearl

The modern pearlescent effect is produced by ‘the specular reflection of light from the many surfaces of the platelets with parallel orientation at various depths within the coating.’ This effectively gives the impression the car is changing colour as it moves. As it would be impossible to put down every blend but please add to the ‘notes’ at the end as to the effect you would like.

Select a roof

  • Webasto Sun Roof

The renowned Webasto sliding roof gives you the open-air experience of a soft top but leaves you with the look of the GT. The Webasto is made of a black leatherette and the rest of the roof may be made to match in leatherette or left in the body colour.

  • Standard

The original GT came with a standard roof, all painted in the body colour.  This original and authentic look is the ‘no-cost’ option for buyers of Silverfield cars.

Select an interior

  • Leather Seats with Rear Bench

The front seats can be upholstered in a quality leather hide in a colour of your choice.  For a fully-integrated appearance that makes the whole interior look superb, add this option which includes the rear bench covered in the matching leather.

  • Standard Seat with Rear Bench

The standard seats and the added rear bench seat may be covered in one of our standard colours or with the originally nicknamed “deck chair” fabric in orange or grey.

  • Standard Seats

Standard upholstery material in a single colour or the nicknamed original “deck chair” fabric in orange or grey

  • Leather Seats

Your seats can be professionally upholstered in high-quality leather chosen from the range of colours shown.

Select wheels

  • 15inc Chrome Wire Wheels

Usually found on the MGC the 15 inch wire wheels add a muscular stance and look to the B. This option includes a fully-matching spare wheel.

  • Chrome Wire Wheels

The chrome wire wheels are a must for most MGB fans. The talk in many MG car clubs is of proud owners completing their dream by adding wire wheels to their Bs. A fully matching spare wheel is included in this option.

  • Painted Wire Wheels

Bead-blasting and painting, or a similar process, is an alternative treatment for wire wheels and for some is an easier and affordable alternative to chrome wire wheels. Less maintenance is required. This option includes a matching spare wheel.

  • Rostyle

The Rostyle is the classic wheel for the MGB, with its distinctive contrasting detail. A matching spare is included.

  • Minilite

Other than the Rostyle the Minilites are the most common wheels for the B. Truly evocative of the era, this option includes a matching spare.

Select an engine

  • V8 3528cc Rover Engine

The V8 version of the car will go to from 0-60 mph (97 km/h) in around 8 seconds, and go on to a respectable 125 mph (201 km/h) top speed. As it has aluminium cylinder block and heads, the Rover V8 engine actually weighed approximately forty pounds less than the standard B engine. This means that it does not lose speed due to weight and the handling is not compromised.

Select brakes

  • Standard Discs and Drums

Standard front discs and rear drums. This is the factory-standard for the original braking system. However, some early models did not have servo-assisted brakes.  All our cars have this essential safety feature as standard.

  • Modern Disc front and back

Changing the drums and discs for more modern discs all round will improve the braking significantly. Not original, however this should be seriously considered especially if a larger engine like the V8 or 2000cc version has been selected. The colour option is for the callipers, which are most visible if wire wheels have been selected. Many wheels also reveal the calliper so this is an option regardless of wheel type.

Select a gearbox

  • 4 Speed Synchro with Overdrive

The standard gear box but with the addition of overdrive in 3rd and 4th gear. All Silverfield gearboxes and overdrive units are completely reconditioned to factory standard or better, and new components are added if required.

  • 4 speed Synchro

The standard gearbox for the MGB.  Our gearboxes are fully reconditioned to factory standard or better, with new components added wherever required.

  • 5 Speed Ford Sierra

For any MGB owner looking to seriously update and modernise the B this is a commonly desired option. The five-speed Sierra ‘box fits into the B as if made for it.

Select an extra

  • Amplifier

A modern car stereo might look out of place installed in the centre console. Instead we can fit a high-quality integrated stereo mini-amplifier hidden under the passenger footwell linked to modern speakers mounted in the door and rear inner wheel arches. Then the mini-amp can have a MP3 or any other device connected to its AUX port. This gives you excellent sound quality and connectivity whilst retaining the classic look.

  • Rear Lap Belts

Although not a legal or MOT requirement, if the rear bench is to be used as a seat this should be an upgrade you specify.

  • Rally Lights

A pair of single  rally driving lights wired to come on with the high beam and placed In front of the grill. These have a separate switch so they can be set to ‘off’ as required. These are only for show purposes as the MOT requirements mean they must be set to ‘off’ when on a public road.

  • Spoiler

A very rare sight is the B with a spoiler. The Silverfield spoiler however is not a large wing that might detract from the B’s good looks but a small shelf-style addition on the boot of the GT or Roadster. The fibreglass spoiler is fitted, filled and sculpted so it becomes a seamlessly integrated part of the boot lid.

  • Bonnet Bulge

The bonnet bulge was originally found on the MGC to allow for its larger engine and air intakes, but although this is now effectively for ‘looks only’ it has a certain visual appeal that once made some B fans envious of this bulkier brother. Your car can have this modification on request.

  • Sebring Wings

This modification gives a more muscular look to the B and an incredibly modern one especially if the Sebring bumpers are also chosen. As with all Silverfield bodywork, any fibreglass elements are seamlessly blended and sculpted into the shape of your car.

  • Centre Stripes

Striping over the bonnet, roof and boot can be positioned centrally or off centre on request and can be produced and applied in any colour you wish. A double stripe is standard but any special requirements can be produced for you.

  • Stainless Steel Oversills

Fitted to the entire length of the sills on the outside of the car, not only do they protect against stone chips but also look fantastic.

  • Upgraded Gear Knob

An alternative to the usual plastic. Available in chrome, leather or wood.

  • Headlamp Stone Guards

Fitted in front of the headlamps the chrome stone guards give an authentic rally look to your car as well as providing additional protection against stones and damage..

  • Left Hand Driver

Your MGB can be fully converted to left-hand drive, most often for use outside of the UK.

  • Power Stearing

Power steering can now be added to the MGB.

  • Carpet Colour

The interior carpet comes in black as standard. If you would like another colour please select this option and choose the carpets for your car.
